The Highs and Lows of Safety

At Height training

This month I want to focus on ‘The Highs and Lows of safety’.  At 3SFire we believe in our motto – ‘Safety – your concern is our business’ – and one of the many projects we have at the start of 2014 is a concentration on our At Height training offering.  And with the weather the way it has been with the South-East in particular suffering blustery gale force winds over the past couple of months, we want to help you be aware of the particular challenges that this presents for you and for your employees who regularly work at height as part of their job.

Here at 3SFire we are lucky enough to have some of the best trainers in at-height rescue (also known as technical rescue) and confined space rescue; these are people who have, through their roles as operational firefighters, trainers and commanders been at the sharp end of real, life-threatening incidents, where training, technique, equipment and procedures come together in real-time to achieve a successful outcome where lives are saved and serious injury avoided.

Ten million people work at height across a range of industries and falls remain one of the biggest causes of serious workplace injury – with more than 40 people killed and 4,000 suffering major injuries every year according to the Health and Safety Executive.

If you work in the construction industries, shipping, roof work, energy or other area where you need to maintain safety provision for staff who work at height – or at depth – then do contact us to see what we can do to make sure you comply with both the HSE directives and to keep your employees safe.
