Overview

3SFire is a trading company wholly owned by Hampshire Fire and Rescue Authority, delivering managed fire and safety solutions for businesses across the South-East. 3SFire is growing rapidly and specialises in providing training, operational support, business safety solutions, fire management consultancy and managed services to provide end-to-end solutions in fire, risk and safety.

We are recruiting a Managing Director who:

About the role

An unparalleled opportunity to lead a leading Fire Service Trading arm.

3SFire’s strategic direction is set by the Stakeholder committee of Hampshire Fire Authority, and delivered by the Managing Director. Working closely with the Board of Directors, you will be passionate about the vision of the company and develop the plans of the organisation to deliver it. It will be up to you to keep the Directors informed of progress against our goals.

Meanwhile, with the sustainability of the organisation central to its success, the Managing Director will work with 3SFire’s staff to ensure a healthy funding pipeline and cash flow. The role requires working with your team to raise enough cash to develop and continue to expand our work.

The Managing Director is the leader within the organisation, and you’ll be required to motivate, develop and manage effectively a small but passionate team with a large workload. The role will be working to the Non-Executive Chair of the Board, and will require them to ensure that the work of the organisation is developed, delivered, sustained and evaluated in a way that makes best use of the resources at our disposal.

About you

You are equal parts strategist, communicator, motivator and leader. You feel equally at home with an audience, a key stakeholder, a staff member or a spreadsheet in front of you. You can see the big picture while maintaining a grasp of the detail, and you can delegate effectively to ensure that everything gets done.

Whether your background is in business or charity, you are energised by the challenge present in making an organisation run smoothly and achieve its goals. You know how to be both painstakingly calculated enough to see what’s coming down the line and dynamic enough to adjust to the unexpected. You can quickly digest data, be it to do with finances or evaluation of programmes, to build a picture of the current state of affairs and act accordingly. You will also be able to stay on top of the changing national policy picture, and understand how the macro affects the micro.

You understand people – whether that’s the people we work with directly, a customer or the members of your team – and can adjust your approach to get your desired outcome from any situation. You have extensive leadership experience, able to be both warm and demanding of high standards, and are comfortable in taking difficult decisions and calculated risks when needed.

Your positive and optimistic attitude complements your thick skin, meaning that any knocks that come your way fail to send you off-course, and you can instil this mentality in others. Above all, you are as passionate about the vision and mission of 3SFire.

How to apply:

Please email a CV and covering letter including a statement of where you think your skills will be a good fit for this role.

Applications should be received by midnight on 4 September 2019.
