Following a site visit our experienced Fire Risk Assessor would provide you with a comprehensive report and action log for the premises as well as ongoing support and advice relating to any actions identified.

All fire risk assessments completed by 3SFire are done so using our own assessors, all of whom are equipped with the appropriate qualifications and fire service experience.

In carrying out the assessments, we utilise a tailored approach to produce a bespoke document which detail fire safety improvements required to achieve legislative compliance.

We also include goodwill recommendations to further enhance fire safety which are not a requirement under the legislation. This ensures our clients are not faced with unnecessary financial burdens.

Fire Risk Assessment FAQs

——–

We’ve answered some of the most common questions about fire risk assessments below. If you have a question that isn’t covered, our team will be happy to help.

Q: What is a Fire Risk Assessment and what’s involved?

A: A Fire Risk Assessment is a structured assessment of the fire hazards within a premises, the people who may be at risk and the measures in place to prevent fire and protect people in the event of a fire.

An assessment considers factors such as sources of ignition and fuel, means of escape, fire detection and warning systems, firefighting equipment, emergency procedures and the needs of people who may be particularly at risk.

At 3SFire, our Fire Risk Assessor will visit your premises to assess the building, its use and the arrangements in place. Following the visit, we provide a comprehensive report and action log, identifying any improvements required and providing practical advice to help you manage fire risk.

Q: Do I need a fire risk assessment?

A: If you are the Responsible Person for a non-domestic premises covered by the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, you must carry out a fire risk assessment and keep it under regular review. The assessment should identify the fire hazards and people at risk, and establish the measures needed to prevent fire and keep people safe.

A fire risk assessment should be suitable and sufficient for the premises and reflect the nature, use and level of risk involved. If you do not have the appropriate knowledge, experience or competence to carry out the assessment yourself, you should appoint a competent person to undertake it.

3SFire can provide professional fire risk assessments tailored to your premises and requirements.

Q: Who can carry out a fire risk assessment?

A: A fire risk assessment should be carried out by the Responsible Person or by someone they appoint who is competent to undertake the assessment.

For straightforward premises, the Responsible Person may be able to carry out the assessment themselves if they have sufficient knowledge, experience and understanding of fire safety. More complex premises or higher-risk environments may require a suitably qualified and experienced fire risk assessor.

If you are unsure whether you have the appropriate competence to undertake your own assessment, 3SFire can provide a professional assessment carried out by an experienced and appropriately qualified Fire Risk Assessor.

Q: How often is a fire risk assessment needed?

A: A fire risk assessment is not a one-off exercise. It must be kept under regular review to ensure it remains suitable and up to date.

The frequency of review will depend on the nature, complexity and level of risk within the premises. A review should also be carried out if there is reason to believe the assessment is no longer valid or following significant changes to the premises, its use, occupancy or fire safety arrangements.

For larger organisations or those responsible for multiple premises, 3SFire can also provide a quality-managed approach to fire risk assessment, helping to prioritise higher-risk buildings and manage actions arising from assessments across a property portfolio.

“Just to say thank you to your organisation for the professional manner in which you have dealt with our requirement. From start to finish you provided a simple process culminating in the production of the Fire Risk Assessment document which is both informative and easy to follow.”
