Safe Work at Height
This 5-day course based at Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue headquarters in Eastleigh is designed to provide training in the following areas:
- An Awareness of legislation and regulations.
- Working at Height Regulations
- Management Regulations (Risk Assessments)
- Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations (LOLER)
- PPE regulations
- Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER)
- An understanding of hazard identification and risk assessment
- Knowledge of the equipment available to personnel for safe work at height
- Personal harness
- Fall arrest lanyard
- Work positioning lanyard
- Quadra / ID and rope (for life-lining)
- An awareness of inspection and maintenance of equipment
- The ability to select appropriate anchors for safe work at height
- The ability to use equipment to put in place safe systems of work for:
- Work restraint
- Work positioning
- Fall arrest
- An understanding of the need for the provision for rescue
- Reach pole for rescue and how to complete a rescue of personnel following a fall
- Stretcher work for casualties.
- Exposure to a variety of scenarios simulating all aspects of working at height
- An awareness of inter-agency working
