Water Rescue Level 2
This two-day course at Winchester Fire Station and River Itchen is designed to equip students with the necessary skills and knowledge to work safely in, on, or near water. Covering all criteria for Module 2 First Responder, the course aligns with the DEFRA Flood Rescue National Enhancement Project, Concept of Operations, and the CFOA National Operational Guidance for Water Rescue and Flooding.
Course Objectives
The course aims to equip participants with the ability to identify hazards and associated risks when working in, on, or near water. It focuses on the safe donning and use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and the selection and utilization of specialist water rescue equipment. Participants will gain the skills necessary to conduct wading rescues and receive extensive training and practice in the use of water rescue equipment. Additionally, the course covers the identification of flowing water and associated dangers, as well as various rescue techniques.
Training Methods and Certification
Training will consist of a combination of lectures, practical demonstrations, and exercises.
Upon successful completion of the course, delegates will receive a certificate.

We suggest that those working near water should be issued with a life jacket and 25 m throw line. There are other versions available but we recommend that the life jackets be self activating/automatic. We would just need to know in advance what type your team are using ask you to bring them along on the day to assist with the practical training.
