In recognition of International Women’s Day Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire & Rescue Service have provided several talks and sessions from 6th – 10th March 2023 to support women in the workplace.
Talks and sessions included:
- Understanding Domestic Abuse
- Stand Up Against Harassment
- Bridging Neurodiversity gender bias gap
- Find Your Brave
- Menopause Masterclass and Menopause Cafe
It is crucial that we continue to work to break down the barriers that hinder women in the workplace, particularly in the male-dominated world of emergency services and fire and rescue. As a predominantly female office, 3SFire were proud to sponsor one of the talks provided by Suzie Lavington at the Art of Brilliance on ‘How to Find Your Brave’.
An informative and inspiring session, Suzie reminded us how to reclaim our self-esteem and literally rediscover our ‘brave’. Self-esteem is often eroded from both genders as we grow into adulthood, but particularly more-so in women, and we know that the removal of harmful stereotypes towards women runs concurrently with higher levels of self-esteem and self-worth. This is an issue as important in 2023 as it was 120-years ago when the first women’s movement began with the Suffragettes in 1903.
There is still plenty to do with regards to women’s equality and safety, but International Women’s Day continues to be a necessary platform to keep awareness in the forefront of everyone’s mind, and something that 3SFire is very proud to support.
