IMI: Initial Managing Incidents
This 3-day course is designed specifically for those thinking about making the move to acting up in charge. This introductory course has 2 days of input and an assessment day at the end.
The command training begins with an overview of the Fire Services Act, providing participants with a thorough understanding of the legal framework and responsibilities that govern fire service operations. This foundational knowledge is crucial for making informed decisions in command roles.
The training also includes input on incident handover procedures, ensuring that participants are equipped with the skills to effectively transfer command and manage transitions during emergency situations. Additionally, there is a focus on post-incident protocols, where participants learn how to handle the aftermath of incidents, including reporting, debriefing, and ensuring the well-being of their team.
The program concludes with a comprehensive command assessment, where participants are evaluated on their ability to apply the knowledge and skills gained throughout the course in a practical, real-world scenario.
