Tactical Ventilation Training
This 3-day training event at Hampshire & Isle of Wight Rescue headquarters in Eastleigh is designed for all operational staff, from Firefighters (FF) to Watch Managers (WM), who are qualified in Breathing Apparatus (BA) but have not yet received Tactical Ventilation training.
The primary aim of this training is to provide an overview of various ventilation techniques. It will enable BA wearers to effectively operate at incidents using Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service Tactical Ventilation Procedures.
By the end of this course, participants will be able to define what Tactical Ventilation is, describe the processes of horizontal and vertical ventilation, state the advantages and disadvantages of forced ventilation, describe the levels of tactical ventilation used by Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service, specify the number of staff required to commence tactical ventilation, and demonstrate the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service procedures for ventilation.
The training will cover a comprehensive range of topics, including start up, donning and doffing procedures, stair procedures, casualty handling, hose management, door procedures, BA wear, branch procedures, backdraught and flashover, ventilation techniques, the use of thermal imaging cameras, and Tactical Ventilation and CFFT assessment.
